one of the simplest ways to incorporate ritual into your daily life is with devotional/intentional candle spells :) a basic candle ritual is easy to personalize, making it a great way to experiment with one’s individual creativity. virtually anything can be incorporated into a candle spell, - oils, crystals, incense, herbs, written word, chant, affirmations, anything!!
all you really need is a candle (white is one-frequency-fits-all, while colored candles can tune into specific vibrations) and an intention. meditate with your candle and visualize it filling with the pure light of your intentions (example intentions ~ to attract success, to banish negativity, to be more devoted to one’s spiritual path, be it deity or self-led)
when you burn the candle, the slow release of energy will have two effects: to strengthen your spirit with the benefits of meditation/prayer/intention, and to release your intention into the universe.
this particular ritual is intended to encourage release of painful emotions and negativity surrounding the recent end of a deeply transformative relationship.
it unfolded as follows:
~i cleansed the mirror with my “Womyn’s Water”, a mix of pure river water, dragon’s blood oil, and full moon oil, administered with a spray bottle. the mirror, turned to the side with a greater magnification, reflects the energies of truth. dragon’s blood and full moon oils are deeply empowering to women (hence the name), and are intended to invoke the Goddess’ purifying and healing powers.
~i sprayed a white candle with the same womyn’s water, and as i rubbed the oil into the candle i visualized a rainbow of energy entering it, color by color, such that the burning of the candle would cleanse each of my chakras with the love of the Goddess. i also inscribed the words peace and release, and an infinity symbol.
~crystal aides included blue kyanite, citrine, smoky quartz, a white geode half and a smoky geode half.
-kyanite is one of two stones which never collects negative energy. its blue color opens and soothes the throat chakra.
-citrine is the other stone which never collects negative energy. its sunny yellow opens and empowers the solar plexus chakra. my power colors are blue and yellow; my aura primarily vibrates with these color frequencies (as well as the pink of crepe myrtles, but that’s a special spiritual vibration for me) so their presence draws me back into my natural energy flow. also blue and yellow make green so when my throat and solar plexus are open my heart can do what it needs to do ~
-this particular smoky quartz came to me immediately after things ended. my boss at the rock store where i used to work told me that quartz alleviates negative energies by taking them into themselves, so this sweet neutralizer is very dear to my heart :)
-the white geode half is from a geode broken open by my former love. the smoky one i found at a little hidden shack at the beach and has beautiful black and white swirling agate inclusions. the white geode has a large patch of some kind of ancient dirt inside it, which i think is hugely related to the end of the relationship i’m healing myself of - he had some deeply ingrained stresses he needed to work out, and for whatever reason he needed to be away from me to do it. the gray geode acts as the other half of a smoky barrier created by it and the other smoky quartz, as well as representing the other half of a kind of geode yin-yang with the white geode. this is a reminder of the importance of duality.
i also ensured that my little ritual coincided with the waning half moon to strengthen the reflective and banishing energies.
